The Oxford Democratic Town Committee (ODTC) has redesigned its web site to make it a hub for news and information about Democratic politics in Oxford and surrounding towns. The new site launched on September 22, 2012 and can be found at www.oxforddemocrats.com.
The focus of the web site’s home page is a listing of events in the area: campaign events, picnics, fundraiser’s, and the like. It also links to the election sites for President Obama, Rep. Chris Murphy, Rep. Jim Himes and Democratic newcomer Jim Gambardella in the 32nd district.
Another section of the home page features recent political commentary, with opportunities for visitors to the site to add their opinions via Twitter and Facebook.
Other pages on the web site list the members of ODTC and present its expectations for how the major offices should conduct the business of town government. There is also a page of links to state government offices, members of Congress, national Democratic organizations, and Connecticut newspapers and TV stations.
“Our hope is that people will visit the new site often, to check the calendar of events, to post a comment on Twitter, or to send us an email,” says Ann Krane, chairperson of the town committee.
Oxford resident David Heim handled the redesign, collaborating with Ann Krane and Carol Georgette, former chair of the town committee, and her husband, Hans Beenhackker.
