A town Department of Public Works employee was sent to the hospital after a freak accident on Little Punkup Road Thursday.
Glen Threlfall, 43, was clearing roads with a town truck payloader when the plow’s blade bucket struck a large tree root hidden in snow near the edge of the road.
The truck stopped dead in its tracks, throwing Threlfall’s head against the front of the cab.
He was sent to St. Raphael’s Hospital in New Haven for head and neck injuries.
Luckily, his injuries are not thought to be serious.
The accident happened at 12:26 p.m.
