Oxford Emergency Command Center Open In Advance Of Potential Blizzard

Oxford First Selectman George Temple issued a Code Red message to residents at about 11:30 a.m. Friday advising them to stay safe during the approaching winter storm.

An emergency command center has been established at Oxford Center Fire Co. No. 1 at 484 Oxford Road. 

Temple said power outages are a possibility from the snow and high winds. He said he’s been in contact with representatives from Connecticut Light and Power.

Temple said residents should not walk on roads until we are assured there are no downed power lines.”

Temple also advised residents with generators to make sure they are properly ventilated. 

If the need for an emergency shelter arises, Temple will make another Code Red announcement.
