Had enough of the snow? Come to the Oxford Historical Society program, Monday, Jan 24 at 6 p.m. at St. Peter’s Church Fellowship Hall.
The evening will feature a pot-luck supper, followed by a series of “Snow Stories,” a recording of the late Mary Hull of the Great Hill area, made in 1970, when she was 92 years old.
Miss Hull relates events in Seymour and Oxford in the Great Hill area and along the Housatonic River during the Blizzard of 1888 when she was ten years old.
Following the recording, attendees will be invited to share their memories of snow storms. They are also invited to bring any photos of snow storms to display at the session.
Executive Committee members Marilyn Stebar and Marilyn Serus are coordinating the event. The supper will be a real “pot-luck”, with people bringing whatever dish they choose to share, with no advance signups. The public is invited to all Historical Society meetings. There is no charge for this event.
The snow date will be Tuesday, Jan. 25. If Oxford schools are cancelled on Monday, the date will automatically be adjusted to Tuesday.
