Oxford’s Twitchell Rowland Homestead Museum will feature a miniature New England Village decorated for the holidays from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2 and Sunday, Dec. 16.
The Museum is located at 60 Towner Lane, off Route 67.
The village is the work of Oxford Historical Society President Louise Burr, who began collecting the buildings and other scenic details about five years ago when she purchased several houses in a tag sale deal she couldn’t refuse.
Today, through further purchases and gifts from friends and family, the little town has grown to dozens of houses, churches, a tavern, shops, a ski area, a farm and a skating pond. People, trees and animals dot the landscape and miniature streetlamps light the roads.
In addition to the Christmas village, the Oxford Garden Club will decorate all three rooms of the Homestead for the holidays. Mrs. Ruth Guedes is in charge of this project.
Docent led tours of the museum will be available to visitors. Admission is free and cider and cookies will be served. The display can also be seen by special appointment by calling Nancy Farnum at 203 – 888-0230.
