Oxford Man Charged In Connection To Deadly Crash Appears In Court

Photo: Eugene DriscollAn Oxford man charged with negligent homicide with a motor vehicle in connection to a fatal crash on Route 67 made a brief appearance in Superior Court Friday.

Salvatore Manganello, 36, appeared before Judge Burton A. Kaplan with his attorney, Kevin Condon of Ansonia.

Manganello was in a Dodge Dakota Oct. 6 when he allegedly rear-ended a Dodge Neon being driven by Matthew Mihalcik, 23, of Beacon Falls.

Mihalcik’s car, which had been stopped to make a turn, was pushed into on-coming traffic and hit by a SUV.

Mihalcik was unresponsive at the scene and was taken to Waterbury Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Prosecutors want more time to talk to Mihalcik’s family. Condon did not object.

The case was continued until Sept. 13.

There is no plea agreement on the table at this time.

The disposition will probably not be discussed at that time,” Condon said of the September court date.
