First Selectman Mary Ann Drayton-Rogers is reminding residents to put their telephone numbers into the database for the town’s CodeRED high-speed alert system.
The system was used 11 times to notify residents of important information during Hurricane Irene on Aug. 27 and Aug. 28, she said in a statement to the press.
“If you phone number is not in the database, you will not be called,” Drayton-Rogers said. “No one should automatically assume his or her phone number is included.”
To put a number into the system, go to the town’s web site, and follow the link to the CodeRED Community Notification Enrollment page.
Residents who have no Internet access can fill out a form at Town Hall, which is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Monday and Thursday evenings from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Businesses should also register, Drayton-Rogers said.
The data collected will only be used for emergency notification purposes, said Fire Chief Scott Pelletier.
