Oxford Reminds Residents To Add Numbers To CodeRED System

First Selectman Mary Ann Drayton-Rogers is reminding residents to put their telephone numbers into the database for the town’s CodeRED high-speed alert system.

The system was used 11 times to notify residents of important information during Hurricane Irene on Aug. 27 and Aug. 28, she said in a statement to the press.

If you phone number is not in the database, you will not be called,” Drayton-Rogers said. No one should automatically assume his or her phone number is included.”

To put a number into the system, go to the town’s web site, and follow the link to the CodeRED Community Notification Enrollment page.

Or just click here.

Residents who have no Internet access can fill out a form at Town Hall, which is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Monday and Thursday evenings from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Businesses should also register, Drayton-Rogers said.

The data collected will only be used for emergency notification purposes, said Fire Chief Scott Pelletier.
