Oxford Resident in “The Trojan Women”

Oxford resident Emily Seibert will play Helen of Troy in an upcoming peformance of The Trojan Women” at Quinnipiac University. 

Quinnipiac University’s Theater for Community will perform The Trojan Women” Oct. 7 – 10 in the Clarice L. Buckman Theater at Quinnipiac.

The Trojan Women,” by Greek playwright Euripides, is a timeless tragedy about the torment and inhumanity of war and a timely study of the treatment of women in conflict zones,” said Drew Scott of West Hartford, an adjunct theater professor at Quinnipiac who is directing the play. It has been called the greatest anti-war play ever written.”

Quinnipiac student actress Sarah Moffitt will play the lead role Hecuba.

Other student actors in key roles include: Emily Seibert of Oxford, who will play Helen of Troy; Kasey Quinlan, who will play Andromache; Jessica Lehman who will play Cassandra; and Dan Hanusch who will play Talthybius. Tricia Thelen of Meriden, associate professor of theater at Quinnipiac, is responsible for set and costume design for this production.

Curtain time is at 8 p.m. Oct. 7 – 9. A 2 p.m. matinee will be performed on Sunday, Oct. 10. Tickets are $12 for general admission and $8 for students and senior citizens. For more information or to reserve tickets, please call 203 – 582-3500.

Theater for Community at Quinnipiac University immerses drama students in all aspects of theater, including acting, directing, lighting and stage design.
