The Board of Selectmen showed bipartisan effort Wednesday when officials unanimously approved a 2011 – 2012 town budget of $13.48 million, a 1.98 percent increase over the town’s current spending plan.
That figures does not include the Board of Education budget, which is still being developed.
The budget includes $265,800 for capital repair projects and $98,130 in capital, non-recurring costs associated with road repair. The actual operating budget without the non-recurring and capital costs would be lower than the roughly 1 percent increase requested by department heads.
Now the budget goes forward to the Board of Finance, where members will start their review March 22. A public hearing, town meeting, and town-vote will happen in the next few months.
The Selectmen also approved a $12.33 million, five-year capital improvement plan Wednesday. That plan will go to a town meeting March 14 at 8 p.m.
