Starting Oct. 1, town hall will be operating five days a week.
Town hall will be open straight through on Monday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. for residents to come in and obtain applications and permits. Also, the Pomperaug District Department of Health will have hours on Monday from 3 to 7 p.m.
In the event Monday is a holiday, Tuesday hours will be from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
For the first time in decades, Town Hall will be open on Fridays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the convenience of the public, said First Selectman George R. Temple.
He said being open five days a week will show accountability and professionalism. “I think this is a good solution to making town hall run better,” said Temple.
The new hours are subject to change.
