Pair Arrested After Child Found Walking On Roof In Ansonia

ANSONIA — Two people were arrested after police said they found a 2‑year-old child on the roof of a two-family house on Main Street.

The child was not hurt.

Police said the child’s father, David Hustek, 23, and the child’s aunt, Sarah Baker, 20, were inside the residence sleeping while the child was outside.

According to a statement from police, officers received a complaint at about 8:45 a.m. Wednesday (Sept. 25) saying a child was on the roof.

Officers located a two-year-old male on the roof of 681 Main Street about 30 feet above the ground,” according to the statement.

A video, embedded below, shows a child atop a second-story roof deck.

Officer Christopher Kelley talked to the child to keep him from moving, while Sgt. Christopher Flynn and Officer Peter Lovermi III forced their way into the house.

The two adults had been sleeping and unaware the child was on the roof of the house,” according to the statement.

The home was found to be in deplorable living conditions, city building officials were contacted and the home was condemned,” police said.

Hustek and Barker were charged with risk of injury to a minor, and first degree reckless endangerment.
