The Parent Child Resource Center (PCRC), a provider of behavioral health services to children and families in the Lower Naugatuck Valley, has been awarded a Special Needs Grant in the amount of $4,000 from the Valley United Way.
Funds from this grant will be used to support PCRC’s Needy Family Fund, which aids families during emergency situations by providing items such as food, clothing and diapers, as well as financial help with utility bills and other expenses.
PCRC case workers in the Family Enrichment Program search out various types of resources from churches, other agencies, corporations, and state eligibility programs; if no alternative can be found, support is provided from the Needy Family Fund.
The fund is only used for families with children and only in situations when case workers determine that the children will suffer consequences without assistance.
Michael Wynne, PCRC Chief Executive Officer, noted “In this economic climate we are receiving an unprecedented number of requests for emergency help and we are so grateful to the Valley United Way for this grant which will allow us to provide emergency aid to those children and families that need assistance.”
