Shelton has imposed parking restrictions on city streets because of Friday’s winter snowstorm.
The rules take effect at 6 p.m., according to a notice on the city’s website.
In an e‑mail, Police Chief Joel Hurliman said that since Friday is an even-numbered day, parking will be restricted to the even-numbered side of any street from 6 p.m. to midnight.
From midnight to 6 a.m. Saturday, parking will be restricted to odd-numbered sides of streets.
The ban would go away after 6 a.m. — assuming a snow emergency hasn’t been declared — but then would begin again midnight Sunday (one minute after 11:59 p.m. Saturday night) with parking restricted to the even-numbered sides of streets.
If a snow emergency is declared for any street or streets, parking would be prohibited completely, Hurliman said, and another notice will be posted on the website.
Meanwhile, the city’s Emergency Operations Center at City Hall is being staffed to monitor the storm, Deputy Fire Marshal Bob Albert said.
Officials will continue to monitor the storm and take necessary measures in the event of power outages or other emergencies, he said.
