Paul Roy Praises Seymour Crews On Flood Efforts

The Town of Seymour is blessed to have some of the best emergency responders around.

Seymour’s Emergency Management Director, Tom Eighmie, displayed great leadership during the event of Friday, July 8.

Tom coordinated the team of fire, police, and ambulance workers that worked so hard that evening.

Fire Chief Tomascheski, Ambulance Corps Director Scott Andrews, Police Chief Mike Metzler and Lieutenant Paul Satkowski each directed their workers under the direction of Tom.

The Police Department kept traffic moving as much as possible as well as responding to citizens’ calls for help. The Fire Department assisted by pumping out the basements of many citizens. The Ambulance Corps helped many of the drivers stuck on Route 8 in spite of being in waste-high water.

The Public Works Department also had the large task of clearing catch basins so that the water could drain. The job continued into the night as the workers had to fill gaping holes in the road surfaces.

Seymour is lucky to have such dedicated individuals to assist in these emergency situations.

The town owes these volunteers and workers a huge thanks for the work they did last Friday evening.

I am extremely proud of these people and the work that they do.
