Derby Day 2013 had some of the best weather in recent years.
Although the St. Mary-St. Michael Duck Race was postponed due to the river conditions, the day lent itself ideal for strolling Elizabeth Street, whether for a lobster roll at the Derby Elks or fries and burgers from the various vendors. Tours of the Sterling Opera House and a pony ride were possibilities, too.
Pictured here are visitors to the Derby Historical Society’s booth, as well as Mark Finch, 8, and brother Paul, 6, enjoying some flavored Italian Ice.
Also Elroy the Elk (aka Paul “PJ” Konner) escorted by Dawn Schmidheini and her son, Michael, made his way thru the crowd with hugs and high fives for the children.
