PHOTOS: Derby Firefighters Raise Thousands For Cancer Research

CONTRIBUTEDThey’re loud. They’re proud. They’re bald — and they raised more than $10,000 to support childhood cancer research.

Derby firefighters gathered at Bar None on Elizabeth Street Tuesday night for a fundraiser to benefit the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a group that raises money to help kids with cancer.

At the events, firefighters and members of the public have their heads shaved in a show of solidarity for ailing children.

Below are photos of the event, which, along with the captions, are courtesy of Derby resident Coleen Fitch.

Fitch reported Wednesday that the proceeds from the event were still being tallied, but that firefighters had exceeded their goal of raising $10,000 for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.
