A mock crash event was held at Ansonia High School Wednesday (May 1) to show students the dangers of drunk driving.

Police Chief Kevin Hale on Wednesday credited School Resource Officer Mike Barry, Ansonia Rescue Medical Services, and the Ansonia Fire Department with organizing the mock crash.
Students from the high school’s drama club played accident victims, Hale said.
It’s an important event to show teens the dangers of drinking and driving, he said. The high school’s prom is Friday (May 3).
One of the students was “arrested” by police during the event after failing a field sobriety test.
Another eye-opening moment, Hale said, was when one of the “victims” was loaded into a hearse and carted away from the scene.
“The kids did a great job,” Hale said.
