In addition to participating in The Great Give, The Valley Indy is publicizing other nonprofit groups benefiting from the event.
The Great Give 2022 is here! The Great Give is an online fundraiser put on by the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven and the Valley Community Foundation. It is a 36-hour online fundraising event, where nonprofits can raise funds eligible for many matches, making all donations stretch farther!
The Great Give runs from 8am on May 4th to 8pm on May 5th, visit https://www.thegreatgive.org/organizations/master-s-table-community-meals and make a donation.
Master’s Table Community Meals, Inc is a volunteer organization that offers food, hope and assistance for the needs of our community. We serve homeless, vets, seniors, and low to moderate income families.
Other programs we have are an emergency food bank, disaster assistance, monthly community assistance and starting in September 2022 Food 2 Kids Ansonia.
The largest percentage of our funding comes from private donations.
Any donation large or small will help support our mission. Our work is sustained entirely by donors like you!
The Food for Kids program starting in September 2022 will start off with 12 children from Mead school in Ansonia. Our mission is to provide this program to all of Ansonia grade and middle schools. The mission is to feed school children who have little or no food resources when they are away from school. We will purchase, pack and deliver bags of kid-friendly meals to the school who will distribute them to the school children. Food insecurity impacts the well-being of children: physical, emotional, and social health as well as their ability to learn.
The school system social workers select the students that receive the food each week on a degree of need basis. Although students are anonymous to us, we see them as “our kids”! With your help, we can purchase the food to put into the bags. Ansonia is not unique, food insecurity among children in CT hovers around 15.6% and nationwide 12 million children experience food insecurity.
Our mission with this program is to feed local school children who have little or no food resources during the weekend. Our vision is to break the cycle of food insecurity so that every child thrives!
Sponsor a Child — Each food bag costs $10 per child per week or $40 per child per month or about $400 per child per year.
