Police: Ansonia Couple Received Marijuana Through The Mail

A husband and wife on Jewett Street were arrested Monday for allegedly having about three pounds of marijuana delivered to their home.

According to information from Ansonia police spokesman Lt. Andrew Cota, local police received a tip from another law enforcement agency July 14 about the package.

Ansonia police teamed with a U.S. Postal Service inspector to investigate.

Police obtained a search warrant, which they used to enter a residence Monday shared by Edward and Debra Ann Matusz. Both are 57 years old.

The package had just been delivered — and turned out to be 3.74 pounds of marijuana, police said.

Edward Matusz is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of more than 4 ounces of marijuana.

He is due in court July 25.

Debra Ann was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of more than 4 ounces of marijuana.

She is due in court July 25, too.
