Ansonia police need help from the public to catch a man who tried to rob the CVS on Pershing Drive early Thursday.
According to police, a man walked into the store and demanded cash from a clerk’s register. He kept one hand in his jacket pocket, saying he didn’t want to hurt anyone, police said.
The crime happened about 3:20 a.m.
The threatened employees managed to lock themselves in an office, causing the suspect to leave empty handed.
He is described as a white male and was last seen wearing a black mask, a camouflage jacket and brown work boots.
Officer Paul Smith and police dog Kane tracked the suspect’s trail along the nearby railroad tracks, which caused an interruption in the morning train commute.
They found some of the suspect’s clothing, but are looking to talk to anyone who may have been in the area of Pershing Drive, Bridge Street, and Main Street Thursday between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m.
Call police at 203 735 1885 and ask to speak to the shift supervisor.
