Shelton police Tuesday arrested a second suspect in a St. Patrick’s Day beating that sent a local man to the hospital in critical condition.
Police said detectives arrested Andrew O’Connell, 18, of Orange, on charges of first-degree assault and conspiracy to commit first-degree assault.
O’Connell was to be arraigned Wednesday at Superior Court in Derby after police held him in lieu of $250,000 bond overnight.
Police also said they have obtained another arrest warrant in connection with the case and are actively looking for a third suspect.
The victim of the assault, Jason Chevrier, 32, was found by passers-by shortly after midnight March 18 at the intersection of Coram Avenue and Kneen Street, according to police. He unconscious and bleeding heavily from the face.
Police said he was in critical condition for two days at Bridgeport Hospital and sustained severe head and facial injuries that will require plastic surgery to correct.
Earlier this week, Shelton police arrested 23-year-old Daniel Zeleznik, of Shelton, in connection to the assault.
