Police closed Division Street in front of Griffin Hospital Tuesday night after receiving a report of a man with a gun.
The person didn’t have a weapon, but was charged with breach of peace, a misdemeanor.
According to Ansonia police, officers were sent to the corner of Division and Page streets after a man caused a disturbance outside his home about 11 p.m.
A witness thought he was armed with a long gun, Lt. Wayne Williams said in an e‑mail.
“Officers blocked the street until they could get the suspect to come out of his home,” Williams said.
No weapon was recovered.
“The road blockage lasted for about 45 to 60 minutes as a precaution until the officers knew what they were dealing with at the scene,” Williams said.
The Valley Indy did not request the man’s name due to the fact he was charged with a single misdemeanor.
