Police arrested a Shelton man for allegedly trying to poison a neighbor’s water supply.
Edward Voccola, 52, was charged with second-degree attempted criminal assault of a person over 60 and first-degree reckless endangerment.
According to a statement released Tuesday afternoon by Detective Ben Trabka, police were called to the Woodland Mobile Home Park Sept. 5 after a resident complained that a neighbor was pouring a chemical into the water fittings of another neighbor.
The person who called the cops videotaped the incident and showed police. Based on the video, police obtained a search warrant for Voccola’s property at 98 Woodland Park.
Police said they found several bottles of Muriatic acid and other chemicals in Voccola’s shed. Police believe Voccola was dumping the acid into his neighbor’s water supply.
The victim had complained to the police in the past about Voccola dumping motor oil in his water supply. That incident was already under investigation. The victim told police that alerting the authorities to the motor oil incident may have triggered Voccola to strike again.
Voccola posted a $25,000 bond and is due in court Sept. 13.
