Police, Marshals Charge Suspected Fugitive In Ansonia

An Arizona woman who served prison time for the death of a 5‑year-old boy was arrested for an alleged parole violation in Ansonia Thursday.

In a prepared statement, Ansonia Police Lt. Patrick Lynch said the woman, Flower Tompson, 37, had pleaded guilty in 2008 to felony child abuse and sentenced to 10 years in prison.

According to the Arizona Daily Star, Tompson abused a roommate’s autistic child, who died of a skull fracture in 2007.

Tompson was released from prison in 2015 on parole and she fled the state of Arizona,” Lynch said. The United States Marshal Service was able to track Tompson to Ansonia where she was located on West Main Street and taken into custody without incident.”

Police arrested Tompson at 12:37 p.m. and charged her with being a fugitive from justice.

Lynch said Tompson was arraigned Friday at Superior Court in Derby, where she waived extradition and will be transferred to Arizona authorities when she returns to court April 28.

She is being held on a $250,000 bond, Lynch said.
