Police: Oxford Woman Skipped Out On Cab Fare

Sorry ma’am, but that cab is going to cost you.

A 37-year-old Oxford woman was charged Wednesday morning with sixth-degree larceny this morning after taking a Yellow Cab ride from Waterbury to her Oxford neighborhood and running out without paying the $34 fare.

She had directed the cab driver to let her off at the parking lot to the Naugatuck State Forest on Chestnut Tree Hill Road, near her residence.

She then tried to run home, police said. The cabbie called the cops.

The woman didn’t get very far. Trooper David Hare apprehended her on foot on Chestnut Tree Hill Road, said Sgt. Daniel Semosky.

Trooper Hare saw her leaving the scene on foot,” Semosky said.

The woman posted a $1,000 bond pending a July 11 court date.

The Valley Indy chose not to print her name due to the fact she was charged with a single misdemeanor.
