UPDATE: Police Probe Satchel Left Inside Huntington Bank

UPDATE: A suspicious bag found inside the Bank of America in Huntington Center turned out to be a purse, according to Lt. Robert Kozlowsky.

The bank, which had been evacuated Wednesday morning while police investigated, is back open for business, Kozlowsky said at about 12:45 p.m. Jan. 18.

Employees inside the bank found a green satchel inside the bank at about 10 a.m. No one could identify an owner or whether it was left by a customer.

The bank followed internal protocols and contacted police and the fire department.

The item does not appear to pose a threat, but they are still investigating.

The Shelton Police Department had called in the state police bomb squad to thoroughly inspect the item, as per police procedure.

State police determined there was nothing suspect about the bag, and that it was a personal purse.
