Police: Second Suspect In Ansonia Murder Arrested

The scene on Main Street on April 5, 2022 in Ansonia. The passenger in the Honda was fatally shot on Hubbell Avenue. The Honda's driver then drove to this location.

ANSONIA — Police announced the arrest of a second suspect in connection to the murder of a 20-year-old man last year.

Ansonia resident Errol Salkey, 18, was charged Thursday (April 6) with murder, first-degree attempted robbery, and first-degree conspiracy to commit robbery.

The charges are connected to the fatal shooting on Stratford resident Johnny Class the afternoon of April 5, 2022 on Hubbell Avenue.

Class was a passenger in a Honda Civic on Hubbell Avenue at about 1 p.m. April 5 when a person fired into the car at close range, striking Class.

Police said the shooting happened“during an attempted drug purchase.” A warrant alleges Class was lured to the scene under the guise that a group wanted to buy marijuana from him.

Instead, he was shot in an ambush.

Police previously charged Monteral Crews in connection to the crime.

Ansonia police said the investigation is continuing and more arrests are expected.

Salkey was arraigned in court on Thursday. He’s being held on a $1.25 million bond and is due back in court on June 2.

Police said anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact the police department at 203 – 735-1885 or anonymous tips can be left at Tip411 link.”
