Police Take DNA From Shelton Attack Suspect

Shelton police arrived at court in Milford Thursday to take DNA from Justin Bonner, the 25-year-old Stratford man accused of attacking a Cumberland Farms clerk in Shelton this summer.

Bonner arrived in state Superior Court in Milford Thursday for a hearing before Judge Richard Arnold.

Bonner stayed in lockup during the brief proceedings. His attorney, Dave Egan, waived the defendant’s right to appear in court.

State’s Attorney Kevin D. Lawlor told Judge Arnold that Shelton police were in the court, ready to take a DNA sample from the suspect. The judge had approved the DNA seizure at Bonner’s last court date.

Bonner, 25, is accused of kidnapping and assaulting a 46-year-old female clerk at the Shelton Cumberland Farms. He was charged on June 2 with first-degree kidnapping and first-degree assault.

After court, Lawlor was asked if any additional charges are pending.

He said his office is awaiting results from the laboratory that may affect the charges that [Bonner] faces.”

Judge Arnold set Bonner’s next court date for Dec. 21.
