
A 14-year-old boy from Ansonia was arrested Sunday after allegedly trying to break into a car on Silver Hill Road in Derby.
Police responded to a residence after receiving a report that two teens were trying to get into the car.
“The resident’s home security system alerted him of the activity and he was able to detain one of the juveniles,” police said in a statement.
The crime happened about 7 p.m.
The teen is charged with third-degree criminal attempt at burglary.
Derby police are attempting to identify the second suspect.
People breaking into cars is a constant threat, and there have been multiple reports recently in Ansonia and Derby.
Police in the Valley have repeatedly urged residents to always lock their vehicles, and to not leave valuables inside.
