MONROE — A 25-year-old woman suspected of being involved with about three dozen motor vehicle burglaries led police on a dangerous chase from Waterbury to Monroe on Sunday.

Hannah Casperson, of Brookfield, driving a white Hummer, allegedly rammed a police vehicle in Waterbury and drove toward an officer trying to stop her before speeding south through the Naugatuck Valley, driving down the wrong direction of a one-way street in Derby, and then heading to Shelton and up Route 110.

The chase ended only after Casperson hit a utility pole and flipped her Hummer on Route 111 in Monroe. She was sent to Bridgeport Hospital to be treated for injuries that are not life threatening.

The video below, from Facebook user Hectito GloBoy,” allegedly shows Casperson operating the Hummer like a battering ram on a street corner in Waterbury while a police officer points his gun at her ordering her to stop. The incident apparently happened near the intersection of Rutledge Street and East Main Street, according to a Facebook post from The Waterbury Observer.

In all, seven police vehicles were damaged during the pursuit.

Casperson had been wanted for questioning by police in Wolcott in connection to 37 (later upped to 41) motor vehicle break-ins that happened overnight Friday, April 1, according to a statement from police. Police said her boyfriend has been charged in connection to those crimes.

According to Wolcott police on Friday, Casperson already had two arrest warrants pending for failing to show up for court to answer previous criminal charges.

New criminal charges in connection to Sunday’s chase are expected to be filed against Casperson shortly.

According to Wolcott police, Casperson’s boyfriend, Thomas Crawford, was arrested in a grocery store parking lot in Waterbury April 1 after police spotted the white Hummer wanted in Wolcott. Casperson managed to drive off while Thomas was arrested. Thomas is charged with 41 counts of third-degree burglary, 41 counts of sixth-degree larceny, 41 counts of third-degree burglary, and 41 counts of second-degree criminal mischief.
