Postmen’s Tales In Seymour

The Seymour Historical Society will hold a special program on local post office history on Sunday, Aug. 30 at the society’s headquarters at 59 West Street in Seymour.

The program will include retired postal workers telling stories about their careers and will feature U.S. Post Office memorabilia. The featured presenter will be retired Seymour postal worker Frank Haines, who will talk about his restored 1963 Studebaker mail truck and will give tours of the vehicle. Haines bought the truck at an Oregon auction and hauled it back to Connecticut, where he spent about a year fixing it up.

The postal service program will begin at 2 p.m., but the historical society building will be open at 1 p.m. for those who wish to tour the exhibits. There is no charge for the program, and cold beverages will be available at no cost. For information, call 203 – 881-2156 or contact psussman@snet.net.
