Prendergast Parents Recognized

On a cold December night, Sandra Gonzalez walked over a mile to attend a report card conference. Upon arriving at school, she could not breathe, needed water, and was dizzy.

When asked, Why didn’t you just cancel your appointment?” her response was, I wanted my son and his teacher to know how much I value education and support them.”

A speechless principal said to this pregnant parent, You are an inspiration to the entire community and your son! How can I clone you!”

Gonzalez was one of two parents recognized by the Connecticut Association of Schools recently.

Ms. Keri Diaz and Ms. Sandra Gonzalez were recognized by the Connecticut Association of Schools on behalf of John G. Prendergast School on Wednesday evening.

Establishing and promoting a school-wide recycling program, supporting classroom instructional groups, volunteering as a library aid, working collaboratively with the administration to promote Prendergast School, and wearing whatever hat is needed, are examples of Keri Diaz’s dedication and love of children, public education, and the guiding principles of the PTO.

The Prendergast School family recognizes, appreciates, and values her contributions as a first year PTO member.
