HARTFORD – State Representative Nicole Klarides-Ditria (R‑105) today announced that the State has awarded two Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP) grants to the 105th district towns of Beacon Falls and Seymour for the continued improvement of municipal buildings and infrastructure projects.
Beacon Falls is slated to receive $500,000 in state funding for the reconstruction of West Road. The town will provide a $1,987,000 match.
Seymour is slated to receive $500,000 in state funding for upgrades to the heating and ventilation (HVAC) systems at the Seymour Community Center. The town will provide a $242,604 match.
“Smart investments to the infrastructure of our cities and towns bring long term benefits to thousands of residents that will far outweigh the upfront costs, and I would like to thank the governor and OPM for approving this money to support our community and its continued growth,” Rep. Klarides-Ditria said.
By law, STEAP grants can only be used for capital projects, such as new construction or expansion, renovation or replacement for an existing facility or facilities. The grants are coordinated by the Connecticut Office of Policy and Management.
The grants are part of a larger $24.5 million package of state grants for 60 small towns announced by Governor Lamont this week. The grants are provided through the Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP), a state program managed by the Office of Policy and Management (OPM) that delivers grants to small towns for economic development, community conservation, and quality-of-life capital projects.
