The Naugatuck Valley Health District has a federally-funded lead-hazard control grant that seeks to prevent childhood lead poisoning by removing lead hazards from older housing.
The health is district is now on its second grant and has completed lead-hazard control work in more than 230 housing units in the Valley. Click this link to read more about the program.
Tragically, one of the most common causes for lead poisoning of children in the Valley is home repairs and improvements made by dads and granddads working without lead-safe work practices to contain and safely dispose of poisonous lead dust.
