The following information is from the Naugatuck Valley Council of Governments:
Area residents now have the opportunity to comment on a proposed list of regional and statewide transportation projects funded by the US Department of Transportation until October 9, 2020. The projects are listed in the Draft 2021 – 2024 Central Naugatuck Valley Metropolitan Planning Organization Transportation Improvement Program (CNVMPO TIP) include a wide range of interstate and state roadway and bridge upgrades. Projects also would implement bus and rail service upgrades.
The TIP lists all proposed highway and transit improvement projects programmed to receive federal financial assistance from the Federal Highway Administration and Federal Transit Administration during the next four federal fiscal years. The TIP is expected to require about $1.1 billion to implement. This funding requirement includes regional (specific projects located in one of the 15 municipalities in the Central Naugatuck Valley MPO area), statewide, and multi-region projects. Projects located wholly within the CNV planning area account for $70.4 million of this total value. All documents, and additional information is being made available on the NVCOG website (www.nvcogct.gov)
The TIP conforms to the State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) being developed by the Connecticut Department of Transportation. The CTDOT has completed the air quality assessment of the draft TIP and the results of the analyses are also available for review at the NVCOG Public Comment for Draft TIP webpage: https://nvcogct.gov/what-we-do/transportation-planning/public-comment-draft-transportation-improvement-programs-tip/
Also, listed on the webpage are details of how to provide input and participate in virtual meetings regarding the TIP. NVCOG and Connecticut Department of Transportation staff will be available to informally discuss any aspects relating to the draft TIP/STIP, air quality conformity determinations and any other transportation issues and concerns via a virtual meeting on September 16, 2020 at 5:00 PM.
