Purse Snatching Victim Thanks Derby Cops

Derby cops received a heart-felt thank you” from the victim of a recent purse snatching.

The victim’s family wrote a letter to the police department, which was read into the record by Chief Gerald Narowski at Thursday’s Derby Board of Aldermen meeting.

The victim, a woman, was knocked to the ground and had her purse stolen in the parking lot of Xpect Discounts on Pershing Drive July 5.

Two people were later apprehended for the crime after a car chase on Route 8.

The victim’s husband, a Seymour resident, said his wife is still traumatized from the incident, but she wanted to thank the officers from Derby who helped her that day.

She would particularly like to thank Officer Massetti, who interviewed her and took the investigative report from her, Sgt. Netto and Detective Stankye, who also assisted in the investigation and Officer Whitman who she said was sympathetic while photographing her injuries,” the woman’s husband wrote.

The letter also thanks Sgt. Lajeunesse and officers Gochros and Foley.
