The Town of Oxford issued the following press release July 23:
Animal Control Officer Sandra Merry Tuesday confirmed that a fox tested positive for rabies.
The fox was located on Monday in the Chestnut Tree Hill/Hollis Road area of town and had an altercation with two dogs and came in contact with a human.
Merry urges pet owners to make sure their pets are up-to-date with rabies vaccinations.
If anyone notices a sick animal, please call the animal control office at 203 – 881-3653 or the police at 203 – 888-4353.
