Rabies Alert In Oxford

Oxford residents are being urged to keep an eye on their pets and make sure their pets’ rabies vaccines are up to date after a raccoon tested positive for rabies Tuesday.

The rabid raccoon was found Sunday in the vicinity of Pope Road and Hawley Road. It tested positive for rabies on Tuesday.

Anyone who sees a wild animal acting strangely, is stumbling or looks sick, should call police or Oxford Animal Control at 203 – 881-3653.
