
State Rep Kara Rochelle proudly applauds the passage of the state’s bipartisan budget proposal, which includes funding Rep. Rochelle worked to secure for several community organizations that provide vital resources and programs in the 104th district.
- $100,000 each year for the next two years for the Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley to establish full-time teen programming with special teen hours to service Ansonia and Derby youth
- $45,000 for Team, Inc. for its Client Support Fund, to support Ansonia and Derby individuals, families, and households with low or moderate incomes who need housing assistance, child care assistance, food assistance, job training assistance, or other immediate needs this versatile emergency fund can address
- $10,000 for Team, Inc.’s Valley MLK Committee to fund the annual field trip for Ansonia and Derby high school students to tour Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Civil Rights landmarks
- $5,000 for Team, Inc.’s Valley MLK Committee for its public mural project
- $5,000 for Master’s Table Community Meals to fund free, nutritious community meals and its emergency food pantry
- $5,000 for Life Health and Wellness Center Inc. for free and reduced tuition for its summer youth camp and enrichment program
- Double the funding for the Fire Training Fund for Volunteer Fire Departments in economically distressed municipalities across the state, which includes Ansonia and Derby. Rep. Rochelle also successfully widened its use to include Fire I, Fire II, and Pump Operator courses.
Rep. Rochelle represents the 104th District, which includes Ansonia and Derby. This release highlights specially marked community funds, though increased town aid, education aid, and tax cuts are also noteworthy. In the coming weeks she will be releasing a series of “issues updates” to highlight the progress made for seniors, families, first responders, community savings, and other important subjects of interest from this year’s legislative session.
