What’s going on with repo men?
Last year, a repossession man reported being shot by a homeowner in Ansonia.
This week, a different repossession man claimed a homeowner hit him with a truck in Seymour.
It was the second complaint the Seymour police department received in two weeks about a repossession escalating into a fight, according to Lt. Paul Satkowski.
The first incident in Seymour didn’t result in an arrest, Satkowski said.
But Monday, Seymour police charged James Schippani, 54, of Roosevelt Drive, with second-degree reckless endangerment.
Satkowski said the repossession man was trying to reclaim Schippani’s motorcycle.
Apparently, Schippani tried to block access to the motorcycle with his truck, Satkowski said.
The repossession man, who was not identified, claimed that Schippani backed up into him, and knocked him over.
The man claimed he was injured, Satkowski said.
The incident happened about 2 a.m. Monday.
Last March, an Ansonia man was arrested for allegedly shooting a repossessor in the leg.
That man, Efrain Rodriguez, pleaded not guilty to the charges of first-degree assault and criminal use of a weapon. He is due back at Superior Court in Milford Nov. 18.
