MILFORD — An Ansonia man pleaded guilty on Oct. 3 to murdering his ex-girlfriend in 2020, The Connecticut Post reported.
Andre LeFrancois, 27, faces up to 35 years in prison, according to the newspaper. His sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 7, 2025 at Superior Court in Milford.
LeFrancois stabbed 20-year-old Rosali Acquefreda, of Derby, to death in her car while their child was in the vehicle. The murder happened in the area of Coe Lane and N. Coe Lane on the Ansonia-Derby border.
LeFrancois was additionally charged with risk of injury to a child at the time of his arrest. A court database shows he pleaded not guilty to that charge.
Acquefreda’s family said in 2020 that LeFrancois first met Acquefreda when she was 14. They dated for two years. Her father described the relationship as toxic.
She had a new boyfriend at the time of her death.
LeFrancois was an obsessive ex who wouldn’t accept that Rosali moved on, they said. Acquefreda was scared of him, her father said in 2020, but remained in contact with him so he could be in their son’s life.
The little boy was 3 years old in 2020.

“Domestic Violence Awareness Month is a time for us to come together as a community, to remember those who have lost their lives, to acknowledge the survivors, and to reiterate our unwavering support for those who have faced or are facing domestic violence in their homes and their lives,” Esperina Stubblefield, director of domestic violence services for BHcare, said in a prepared statement.
