Republicans Meet To Celebrate Valley Unity

For the third year, the Valley GOP is celebrating revitalization.

Re-instituting an initiative by Valley GOP Chairs, that was inaugurated almost 20 years ago — way back when Len Greene, Sr. was the Beacon Falls RTC Chairman — the Valley GOP Chairs are once again providing an event for Valley Republicans.

For the last couple of years, we have seven town committees joining together (Ansonia, Beacon Falls, Derby, Naugatuck, Oxford, Seymour, and Shelton).

The mission of the Valley GOP is to bring attention to Naugatuck Valley issues and concerns and the need for our leaders to address jobs, economic development, Brownfields cleanup and redevelopment, etc.

With each of the Valley towns being relatively small and quiet, compared to the big cities of Waterbury and Bridgeport, it was felt that we could gain more attention by joining together and demonstrating our similarities rather than our differences.

Naugatuck RTC Chairwoman, Dorothy Hoff, explains that While last year’s event featured candidates for the U.S. Senate and U.S. House and provided them with a venue to get across their campaign messages, this year we are focusing on providing Valley Republicans with some motivation, inspiration, and some good old-fashioned fun.”

Two men who grew up in the Valley and have represented it well, Len Greene, Sr. and Len Greene, Jr., will serve as our emcees – two generations from the same family.

Our guest speaker is Naugatuck’s own Kevin DelGobbo, former Burgess, State Rep., and more.

He was chosen not only because he is from the Naugatuck Valley and understands our concerns, but also because he continues to live a life of public and community service and encourages others to do so as well.

Going along with the theme of providing Valley Republicans with some good old-fashioned fun”, we have been able to get Chris DePino, State Party Chairman for seven years, to provide us with some musical motivation.

Many will remember Chris’s blues harmonica at the State GOP Conventions in the past.

The dinner will be held from 6:00pm‑8:30pm on Friday, April 12 at La Sala at Sons of Italy, 73 High Street, Derby. There be a buffet dinner and cash bar.

Tickets are $30 and are available through each Town Committee:
