Shelton crews at the scene of a car wreck/gas leak Monday.
SHELTON — Houses and businesses in part of Shelton were evacuated Monday after a two-car crash caused a gas leak.
No injuries were reported, but River Road (Route 110) was closed in the area of Constitution Boulevard South for just short of four hours.
The crash damaged a gas utility box, according to a statement from Shelton police.
Police said the buildings were evacuated as a precaution as a crew from Eversource fixed the damaged equipment.
The crash was reported at about 3:45 p.m. and the road was open by 6:45 p.m.
