The owners of the former Center Stage Theater building on Center Street want to turn the first floor into a restaurant.
They have submitted a plan to the Planning and Zoning Commission that would create a 3,200 square-foot restaurant in the space.
The commission received the proposal at its meeting Tuesday and scheduled a public hearing on the plan for Nov. 30, unless there is a conflict getting the City Hall hearing room.
The application described the restaurant as “sit-down” and indicated that beer and wine would be served. It had few other details — specifically leaving out the proposed name for the new restaurant and what type of food they hope to serve.
The proposed hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday through Sunday.
The applicant is Center Street Property LLC, which owns the building.
Deborah Palko, who signed the application, declined to comment on the plans, saying it was still too early in the approval process.
Center Stage left the building about a year ago, citing space constraints for the growing theater program.
Center Stage is now temporarily housed in the former Crabtree car dealership, which is slated to be redeveloped into a shopping center.
