Results From The Ansonia ‘True Votes’

The Valley Indy posted two completely unscientific polls this week connected to the mayor’s race in Ansonia.

The first poll asked which candidate won the nearly 2‑hour debate Monday between Mayor David Cassetti and challenger Tarek Raslan.

The poll shows 1,412 people voted.

The poll was pushed heavily on social media by both campaigns.

  • 50 percent said Raslan won the debate.
  • 46.8 percent said Cassetti won the debate.
  • 2.3 percent said neither candidate won
  • 11 people answered other”

The podcast of the debate, which was featured at the top of the poll story, was played 420 times.

Here are some debate poll results in a pie chart:

The Valley Indy also posted a poll Oct. 13 within a story about the second scheduled mayoral debate falling apart in Ansonia.

It had a much shorter answer period than the debate poll.

The Oct. 13 poll asked readers: Should the candidates debate again?”

The poll shows 111 people answered.

  • 57.6 percent answered Yes, the debate should happen Oct. 26, as planned.”
  • 21.6 percent answered Look, they tried. They’re all busy.”
  • 12.6 percent answered No, they’ve debated enough.”
  • 4.5 percent said This is too complicated for a silly online poll.”
  • 3.6 percent said their answer was not provided as a choice.

The Valley Indy poll is not scientific, but it has correctly predicted the results of some municipal votes in past campaign seasons.

Voters are restricted to one vote per IP address.
