The Dr. Martin Luther King Brotherhood Awards Committee will present its “Unsung Hero” Award to the Rev. Samuel Levey at a ceremony on Dec. 2.
The event will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Joseph A. Doyle Senior Center on Main Street in Ansonia.
Levey, the pastor at Williams Memorial Church of God in Christ, was informed of the award at a reception last winter, which honored five people who rushed into a burning building to save two elderly residents.
“I love the Lord. I love people. I don’t look down on anybody,” Levey said at the time.
“It’s a great shock,” he said of the announcement.
A second award, the 2010 Chairman’s award, will be presented to a person who works in a paid or voluntary role to improve the quality of life for seniors or retirees. The recipient has not yet been announced.
Dinner will be served at the ceremony.
A donation of $8 is requested. Attendants 62 or older will be admitted free.
RSVP by Nov. 28.
