Rich Farm Owner Wants To Serve Lunch

The Planning and Zoning Commission has set a public hearing for next month on plans to expand the use of the wildly popular Rich Farm Ice Cream Shop at 691 Oxford Road.

The commission Thursday voted to hold a public hearing on a plan that would allow the owners of the farm to serve a light lunch during the winter hours when business to their ice cream shop is slow.

Owner Dave Rich wants to serve soup and sandwiches inside a new dining area that has been added to the ice cream shop.

He said the lunch menu would only be in effect from October to April and that they would be closed for a month in January.

The ice cream shop has been in operation for 16 years. The attached farm goes back generations.

The commission set the hearing for 7:40 p.m. on Jan. 6 at Town Hall.
