Road Race To Benefit Spooner House and Wesley Village

Wesley Village is proud to sponsor the second annual benefit 5K Road Race on Saturday Aug. 28 starting at 9 a.m.

The 3.1 mile race and a 1.5 mile fun walk will begin and end at Wesley Village in the parking lot for Crosby Commons at 580 Long Hill Avenue in Shelton. 

Awards will be given for the 1st Place Male and Female overall and the top 2 male and female finishers in each of the following age groups:  Under 13, 14-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+.

Wesley Village will provide delicious food for all after the event. Event parking will be at Long Hill Elementary School, 565 Long Hill Avenue, across from Wesley Village.

Proceeds will benefit the Spooner House on Todd Road in Shelton, providing food, shelter and service for those in need and the Wesley Village “Journey of Dreams” program. 

The Gold Sponsors for the race are M&T Bank and Omnicare. 

Major sponsors include: People’s United Bank, Unitex Rental Services, 02 Safe SolutionsNew England Home Care, Griffin Hospital, Dr. Daniel Wollman, MD, PhD. and Jordan Cohen.

Participants who pre-register by August 26 will pay $17 and receive a commemorative T-shirt. 

After August 26, registration is $20. 

There will be T-shirts for race day registrants, available on a first come basis for the first 50 registrants. The top male and female race winners will each receive a family 4-pack of tickets to see the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey® ZING ZANG ZOOM performance on October 21 at 7:30 p.m. at Arena at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport.

Each runner age 70 or older will receive a free two-month membership in the Wesley Village Wellness Center.
