Rochelle And Scanlon To Hold Forum In Derby On Prescription Drug Discount Card

DERBY — State Rep. Kara Rochelle will host an information session on the ArrayRx Discount Card with state Comptroller Sean Scanlon 12 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10 at the Derby Senior Center, 293 Main St.

Rochelle and Scanlon will discuss with those in attendance the benefits of the ArrayRx program, which negotiates discounts with pharmacy networks and rebates with drug manufacturers to make many common drugs available at a fraction of the price. The card is free to every Connecticut resident, with no restrictions on age or income. Users can expect to save up to 80 percent on a generic drug and 20 percent on brand-name prescriptions.

All FDA-approved prescriptions and select over-the-counter products are eligible for discounts. ArrayRx is accepted at 98 percent of pharmacies in Connecticut and 64,000 pharmacies nationwide.

ArrayRx is a great tool to bring down the high cost of prescriptions drugs,” Rep. Rochelle said in a prepared statement. For anyone on high-deductible health plans, the uninsured, and Medicare recipients who use prescriptions not covered, it will make a huge difference.”

It’s no question that prescription drug prices are out of control,” Scanlon said. This card isn’t the be-all-end-all solution to the problem, but while we await the benefits of federal legislation and continue our work at the state level, the ArrayRx card is providing residents with some much-needed relief today.”

The ArrayRx program is part of Public Act 23 – 171, which Rochelle supported.

Rochelle is a Democrat who represents Ansonia and west Derby in the state House of Representatives.
