Rochelle Speaks On Manufacturing At National Conference

ANSONIA — State Representative Kara Rochelle (D‑Ansonia, Derby) spoke last week at the National Conference of State Legislature’s Bring Manufacturing Home” panel as part of the NCSL’s Jobs Summit. Founded in 1975, NCSL’s mission is to advance the effectiveness, independence, and integrity of legislatures in the states, territories, and commonwealths of the United States. It works to highlight the latest in bipartisan policy research and provide technical assistance to legislators across the country.

Of the more than 7,500 state legislators across the country, Rep. Rochelle was one of two state legislators handpicked to highlight innovative manufacturing policy to support the industry, create jobs, and advance workforce training in the industry.

Rep. Rochelle was joined by:

  • Phil Mintz, Director of the North Carolina Manufacturing Extension Partnership;
  • Allison Forbes, Vice President of Research at the Center for Regional and Economic Competitiveness; and
  • Justin Wilmeth, State Representative in Arizona

As the daughter of a Teamster who worked the line in a factory, I grew up keenly aware of how important the manufacturing industry is to creating good paying jobs, supporting families, and supporting our regional economy” Rep. Rochelle said. My dad’s hard work in a factory paved the way for me and my sister to be the first generation to go to college. I never forget my roots and the importance of this industry in building and protecting the middle class. Since day one, I’ve made workforce development and manufacturing policy a central part of my work, writing and passing bills that support the industry and those who wish to work in it. I’m so humbled and proud to be asked to speak about what we’re doing in Connecticut, leading the nation on proactive policy that makes a difference.”
